FAQ
Wedge questions
Why do the EDISON 2.0 wedges look so much different than other wedges?
There is a time-honored design adage that says "form follows function", and there is no better illustration of that than the EDISON 2.0 wedges.
We set out to achieve the most consistent smash factor of any wedges ever made, as that translates to more consistent trajectory and distance -- the main measuring stick of good wedge shots.
We also wanted to dramatically improve spin, which required optimizing the gear effect of the clubhead. Very simply, the design form followed these functions.
How does the Koehler Sole work?
This sole design was first patented by Terry Koehler in 1994 and has earned a loyal following through multiple iterations.
It features a very high bounce on the leading portion of the sole to prevent digging in softer lies and when the club is forward pressed to any degree.
But the trailing portion of the sole has what would be considered a very low bounce, so that the EDISON 2.0 wedges can handle the tightest of lies.
These two angles are always working together to handle any kind of lie and any kind of swing path, so you are never handicapped by the lie you face or the swing path you make.
The “Koehler sole” has been helping tens of thousands of golfers for over 25 years, through multiple iterations designed by Terry Koehler for different brands of golf clubs.
In the Edison Forged wedges, Terry has refined this design to make it even more forgiving of different turf conditions and to accommodate various swing paths more adeptly.
Why do you have progressive grooves, and how do they work?
Because you are asking your various lofts of wedges to do different things.
Your lower lofted wedges – 45-51 degrees – are typically used more for full swing shots, where the dynamic weight distribution in the EDISON 2.0 wedges will produce all the spin you
could ever want. In these lofts, the grooves are wider and deeper, and spaced further apart to channel away moisture and grass to help you maximize your control from the rough.
When you choose these lofts for chipping or knockdown shots, they will deliver a more controlled flight/roll relationship.
In the higher lofts, which are mostly used with lower clubhead speeds but where you want to maximize spin, the grooves are narrower and closer together to put more groove edges on the ball to deliver that spin.
The wall angles of these grooves are designed to allow a sharper groove edge to ‘bite’ into the ball and give you optimum spin at low clubhead speeds.
These are made to conform to USGA Rules of Golf.
What lofts are available in the Edison Forged Wedges?
Edison Forged Wedges are available in odd-numbered lofts only from 45 to 60 degrees.
The reason for this is that our wedge technologies deliver lower, more penetrating launch angles and increased distance over conventional “tour-design” wedges.
An Edison Forged 53-degree wedge, for example, will launch the same or lower than other 52-degree wedges, so you get your normal distance (or more) but have more loft around the greens to make your scoring shots stop quicker.
That said, we are happy to adjust any of our wedges one degree weaker to deliver even-numbered lofts from 46 to 60 degrees if that is what you want.
What is your Pearl Chrome finish?
The "jewelry-like" appearance of Edison's Pearl Chrome finish is not just for looks.
This finish repels moisture better to give you more spin and shotmaking control when conditions are not perfect.
Is the shaft really that important in wedges?
In a word - yes.
Regardless of the club – driver to putter – the shaft is the “engine”. Your wedge shafts are asked to do a variety of things that other clubs do not have to accommodate.
At full swing speeds, the shaft must stabilize the heaviest clubheads in the bag. But with the very next shot it may have to deliver the precise feel required to help you make a delicate little chip or pitch of only a few yards.
We firmly believe your wedges should provide a "seamless transition" to your irons to optimize your feel and performance. That means matching material, weight and flex as closely as possible to the shafts in your irons.
That's why rely on the premium shaft offering from KBS in both steel and graphite, with the widest selection of any wedge brand. But if you want us to match the shafts in your irons, we are certainly happy to do so.
What shafts and grips do you offer?
Our standard offering of shafts include the KBS® Tour in steel shafts and the KBS PGI in graphite. We've chosen the Lamkin® Crossline® Grey in Standard and Midsize as our standard grip.
That all said, we will be happy to build your Edison 2.0 wedges with any available shaft and grip for a reasonable upcharge when necessary.
What custom work do you offer?
We believe your wedges should be the most finely tuned clubs in your bag because you use them more than any other.
In addition to building your Edison 2.0 Wedges with any shaft and grip on the market, we will provide alterations to grip size, shaft length, lie angles and lofts at no extra charge.
Do you make left-handed wedges?
At this time, the EDISON 2.0 wedges are available in right hand only. We hope to add left-hand models in the 2024 model year.

Our Performance Data
How was your robotic testing data gathered?
We subjected the Edison Forged wedges and the market leading wedges (randomly purchased at retail) to a battery of robotic testing performed by the golf industry’s premier independent testing laboratory. No Edison Golf personnel was even present at the time of testing.
All wedges were 54 degrees in loft and impact was tested at five points around the face – center and ½ inch toward the toe, heel, high and low, as this best simulates the impact pattern of most recreational golfers.
Ten shots were struck with identical clubhead speeds and shaft lean angles for consistency. This robotic testing has been supported with dozens of live golfer testing sessions.
Understand robotic testing isolates the clubhead performance from any golfer swing idiosyncrasies, so your own personal results may differ. But we are confident you will see a marked improvement in your scoring range performance in the first few rounds.
What about other “game improvement” wedges?
We tested against the top wedges in that category, too, and we found our superior performance just as daunting.
For the most part, “game improvement” wedges feature a very large sole with lots of bounce to make them more helpful in getting out of bunkers. If that’s your only need, they work OK. But that large heavy sole and cavity back actually aggravates the distribution of mass issues that causes other wedge play problems.
Purchasing/Returns
Why do Edison Forged wedges cost more than other mainstream wedges?
It is not realistic to compare the Edison 2.0 Wedges to mass-produced wedges from the major brands found in the stores; those are usually cast clubheads built on generic steel shafts and grips and assembled in mass… maybe even overseas. The price of Edison 2.0 Wedges is actually about the same as any quality forged iron on the market today.
The fact is that we put more into our wedges than anyone else. Our heads are 5X Forged of 1025 carbon steel, a process which costs at least twice as much as the cast heads offered by most major brands. Then each head is plated with our unique “Pearl Chrome.” It’s thicker than what others use and that will make them last longer.
We use only premium shafts from KBS, rather than the heavy (and often generic) “wedge flex” offered by most others. And we top each wedge with a tour-quality grip: the Lamkin Crossline Grey.
Finally, every Edison Forged wedge will be custom-crafted to each golfer’s personal specifications as opposed to assembling them by the thousands and stacking them on the retail shelves.
Where can I buy Edison Forged Wedges?
Currently, Edison wedges are available directly from us on our website.
As we prepare for the 2024 season, we have begun to reach out to dedicated golf professionals and premier club fitters to invite them into the Edison Golf network, so that their golfers can take advantage of this exciting technology in scoring clubs.
If you would like us to reach out to your golf professional, please email his or her contact information to WedgeFitters@EdisonWedges.com.
How do I give you my custom specifications?
You'll find easy-to-use drop down selectors for your lofts, shaft type and length, grip preference and lie angle, as well as a field for you to request any special alterations like building up your grips, etc.
If you want to get your EDISON 2.0 wedges built with any non-standard shafts or grips, please call us at 800-933-4395 and we'll take care of that for you.
Can I change my order after I place it?
As long as your wedges are not already in the production process, we can certainly make changes.
The best way is to call our WedgeFit team at 1-800-933-4395 and tell them what you need.
How long will it take to get my wedges after I place my order?
Our goal is to ship all orders within one week (5 working days) of when you place it.
If you require non-standard shafts and/or grips, that usually adds a week or so to the process to give us time to order those components and get your wedges into production.
How will you ship my order?
We ship all U.S. orders via UPS Ground, so it typically takes 3-5 days after we process the shipment, depending on what part of the country we are shipping to. International orders are shipped via UPS as well - you can select the exact service at checkout.
Please allow up to 24 hours from your shipping confirmation email to see your tracking number be live by the chosen carrier.
Why don't you offer custom stamping?
Stamping art or initials into a chrome plated clubhead breaks through the chrome and introduces the likelihood of rust or corrosion, or worse, flaking of the chrome.
At this time, we are not offering this service, but we are researching how we might do so without affecting the quality or integrity of our product.
What if I try the EDISON 2.0 wedges and don't find them to my liking?
We doubt that will happen, but no one has ever made a golf club that worked for everyone.
That's why we created our unmatched "100% RIsk Free Trial".
Order your first EDISON 2.0 wedge and put it to the test on the courses you play, hitting the shots you face every round.
We believe you will quickly see the performance superiority over conventional 'tour design' wedges.
But if you don't find it is helping you improve your scoring range performance, simply give us a call to share your experience.
We often find a shaft change does the trick, but if you decide to send it back, we'll issue a refund of your purchase price.
All we ask is that if you purchase a full set or matched pair, please only try one of them out to make sure you like it, so the others can be returned intact if you don't. And please take care of it during your trial period, maybe even keep the headcover on it for that time.
Please please understand that we may have to charge a re-stocking/refurbishing fee if the returned wedge reflects any damage outside of normal wear for a short trial.
